Richard-Riemerschmid-Berufskolleg is a vocational school. There are about 1400 students (730 female, 670 male) in the school and 65 teachers (35 female, 30 male). The students belong one half each to trade professions (painter, car painter, decorator, goldsmith etc) and to graphic/design/multimedia. They usually finish with advanced technical college entrance qualification. In our school program we underline the necessarity to teach our students in an european dimension. Workingplaces are more international than in earlier days. Vocational and foreign-language competences get an european background. It becomes more important to learn multicultural benchmarks. Therefor we want our students to learn in european countries. We have partner schools in Finnland, Sweden, Norway, Spain and Poland. We are very satisfied to work together with Zesp Szk Plastycznych w Katowicach. The contact to the teachers and the students is very good. Since we are in contact with the school in Katowice, we have more good reasons to study the commom history of both countries. And we learn a lot. The European Commission and the Leonardo mobility project spend a lot of money to support such exchanges financial. The European Commission has given us the intense feeling, that it is worth to develope the amicable relationship between our schools and at last between our countries. At last it doesn't work without the firms and the companies. We are thankful that we found an open and interested firm that supports our European project. Our students learn a lot being part of the project. They learn how working life runs in Poland. And they learn how people think, celebrate and live in Kattowice. The European Leonardo projects are very good investments into a common european future. The students from Zesp Szk Plastyczne are welcome in Richard-Riemerschmid-Berufskolleg in Koeln.
